THE CANNABINOID SYSTEM INTERACT WITH DELTA OPIOID RECEPTORS TO MODULATE PERCEPTUAL AND AVERSIVE ASPECTS OF PERSISTENT INFLAMMATORY PAIN IN MICE: INVOLVEMENT OF THE HEME-OXYGENASE-CARBON MONOXIDE PATHWAY

Chronic Pain is a condition of a problematic treatment since conventional treatments can lead to side effects and to the development of tolerance. To develop new treatments, researchers have been investigating the neural systems and pathways related to pain modulation, like opioid and cannabinoid systems, and the heme-oxygenase (HO)-carbon monoxide (CO) pathway. The interaction among those systems needs to be more clarified, especially its effects on the aversive component of chronic pain.
