Significant malaria-related morbidity and mortality have been documented during pregnancy and early childhood in Africa and Asia, but the impact of exposure to Plasmodium vivax (the predominant species in Brazil) during the first 1000 days – from conception to child’s second birthday – remains understudied in the Amazon.
