Resumo

Developmental Cortical Malformations (DCM) are one major cause of refractory epilepsy mainly in children. One animal model used to study epilepsies associated with DCM is the neonatal cortical freeze-lesion (FL) model. Although seizures are rare, an approach to increase epileptogenesis is to apply a second insult. Here, we used naïve Wistar Audiogenic Rats (WAR) with microgyria induced by neonatal cortical FL (two-hit model). Since microgyria is induced in the somatosensory cortex, the evaluation of cortical-thalamic oscillations may help understand DCM-associated epileptogenesis.
