In light of this, the vast diversity of the Amazon flora presents a strong potential source of protective compounds or molecules that can impede the degenerative process. However, similar to conventional drugs, the utilization of plants from the Amazonian flora may induce cytotoxicity, transforming them from protective agents into intoxicating agents.
