The World Health Organization estimates that 1.28 billion individuals worldwide are hypertensive, being two thirds of them in the low- and middle-income countries. Malnutrition is a risk factor for the development of hypertension. The malnutrition in peripubertal life induces neurogenic hypertension related to autonomic dysfunction, cardiac remodeling, and endothelial dysfunction in adulthood, however, we don’t know the implication of central and peripheral renin angiotensin system (RAS) in this insult.
