MATERNAL LOW PROTEIN DIET AFFECTS THE DUODENUM MORPHOPHYSIOLOGY, INFLAMMATORY, AND ANTIOXIDANT PARAMETERS IN YOUNG OFSSPRING RATS

Maternal exposure to a low protein diet (LPD) is one of the key environmental stressors associated with the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) concept. It has been demonstrated that offspring exposed to maternal LPD presented developmental impairment of the central nervous system, dysregulation of blood pressure, and modulation of the intestinal microbiota, leading to duodenal dysfunction during the life course.
