MATERNAL LOW PROTEIN DIET AFFECTS THE ANTIOXIDANT AND INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE IN THE COLON OF YOUNG MALE RATS

There are several studies that affirm the importance of the intrauterine environment for prenatal and postnatal development. Similarly, the lack of an appropriate diet, such as a low protein diet (LDP) during the gestation and lactation periods may be associated with gastrointestinal disorders throughout life. This condition may be related to the increased incidence of inflammatory diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn`s disease, and even colorectal cancer, especially when added to the offspring unhealthy daily habits.
