Phthalates represent a class of plasticizers used in different products such as personal care products, food packaging, and even in many types of toys. Recently, metabolites of phthalates have been detected in different concentrations in breast milk, in the urine of pregnant women, and in the maternal-fetal tissue. Previous studies have shown that perinatal exposure to isolated phthalates increased susceptibility to prostatic lesions.
