INTERACTION BETWEEN NEUROINFLAMMATION AND SYMPATHETIC VASOMOTOR HYPERACTIVITY ON EXPERIMENTAL RENOVASCULAR HYPERTENSION

Arterial Hypertension (HTN) is the cardiovascular risk factor most prevalent in the world. The current understanding of this condition considers the imbalance between cardiovascular, renal, neural and humoral systems as the main responsible for the maintenance of chronically elevated arterial blood pressure (BP). Studies have shown that the hyperactivation of the immunological system may influence the development of neurogenic hypertension. Consequently, the sympathetic vasomotor activity to the splenic territory became a topic of great interest in recent studies. In this study we evaluated a model of renovascular hypertension (Goldblatt - 2K1C) which includes systemic inflammation and sympathetic hyperactivation.
