Suicide is an act of self-injuring resulting in the end of the individual’s own life and is one of the leading global causes of death. Suicide affects people of both sexes and all ages, but it is especially prevalent among young people. Despite the significant social and economic impact, suicidal behavior neurobiology still demands further understanding. Transcriptomics and proteomics are great tools for developing a broader knowledge of biological conditions. These omics tools can connect intricated molecular features inherent to complex human disturbances and point to new molecules with the potential to serve as biomarkers. Many studies analyzed the proteomes and transcriptomes in the brain of suicide completers, compared with controls who died of sudden causes. Most studies evaluated the pre-frontal cortex; however, some studies evaluated other brain regions, such as the cerebellum, amygdala, and hippocampus.
