Resumo

During puberty, growth hormone (GH) is known to modulate the expression of genes required for reproduction, such as the Kiss1 and Gnrh1. Kisspeptins, the product of the Kiss1 gene, is considered the main modulators of the Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neuron’s activity. Kisspeptin neurons are located in the anteroventral periventricular nucleus/periventricular nucleus (AVPV/PeN) and the arcuate of the hypothalamus (ARH), hypothalamic regions that have already been described as GH responsive. However, it is unknown whether changes in GH secretion/signaling during development impair puberty or fertility.
