Fish oil has a positive effect on muscle wasting in pre-cachexia and cachexia induced by murine melanoma

Skin cancer is the most frequent, melanoma being the most rare and aggressive type. It has a high mortality rate, constituting 65% of deaths from skin cancer and one of its consequences is weight loss. B16F10 is a melanoma murine cell line and an experimental model used to induce cachexia in mice. There are still no effective treatments to reverse weight loss, as well as studies describing the loss of muscle mass during the course of melanoma development and the involvement of oxidative stress.
