Resumo

Menopause is characterized by a significant increase in the incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Consequently, decreases in the levels of ovarian hormones following menopause may be attenuated by exercise, modulating in significant pathways in the reversal of pathogenic effects on the cardiovascular system. We hypothesized that exercise increases hydrogen sulfide (H2S) generation in a manner dependent of the cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE) pathway, resulting in increased vasodilation.
