Effects of Therapeutic Hypothermia on Parameters of Peripheral Immunity after Neonatal Hypoxia-Ischemia

Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is the only treatment for infants suffering from neonatal hypoxia-ischemia (HI), a major cause of death and neuropsychological deficiencies in newborns worldwide. TH decreases metabolic rate and neuronal death, but its effects on other outcomes involved in neuroprotection are not well understood. Studying these effects may contribute to the comprehension of TH limitations.
