EFFECTS OF NITRIC OXIDE SYNTHASE (NOS) INHIBITORS ON ANXIOLYTIC ACTIVITY IN DIFFERENT ANIMAL MODELS OF ANXIETY: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW WITH META-ANALYSIS

Introduction: Anxiety disorders involve and share features of fear and anxiety in an excessive way, which is then exaggerated and persistent. Due to the complexity of the characteristics of psychiatric disorders, these diseases are studied using animal models. Animal models in psychiatry then seek to investigate the disease and the mechanism of action of the drugs used. The main animal models used to study anxiety are the plus maze, light-dark compartment test, open field test and social interaction test.
