Resumo

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are nanoscale graphene structures with unique electronic and optical properties. They are typically less than 10 nanometers in size and possess a quantum confinement effect due to their small dimensions. This effect leads to discrete electronic energy levels, making GQDs highly attractive for various biomedical applications. The use of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) in medicine is an emerging new area. In the last years, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) had their application mainly focused on cancer therapy, drug delivery and bioimaging. Although many studies have evaluated the application of this nanomaterial, its safety data are still scarce
