EFFECTS OF AÇAI SEED EXTRACT (ASE) SUPPLEMENTATION ON CARDIOVASCULAR CHANGES IN EXPERIMENTAL MENOPAUSE

The hormonal changes related to menopause, particularly the drop in estrogen levels, lead to the risk of developing heart disorders. Hormone replacement therapy is often used to alleviate the clinical consequences of menopause. However, it seems to be related to the appearance of breast cancer and thromboembolism. Studies by our research group have shown that the hydroalcoholic extract of the açaí seed (Açaí Seed Extract – ASE), rich in polyphenolic compounds, has beneficial cardiovascular effects in experimental models of hypertension.
