Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a worldwide and frequent problem. Data from the World Health Organization (2018) indicate that about 2.3 billion people worldwide currently consume alcohol. The multifactorial character of this disorder is influenced by genetic, environmental, behavioral, and neural factors. The neural structures most suffer neuroplasticity are that involved with the reward system, stress, and cognition. Cognition, precisely the decision-making capacity (DM), is the target of the deleterious effects of alcohol, leading to the maintenance of alcohol-seeking behaviors.
