Resumo

Student burnout syndrome can be characterized as a psychological problem that occurs because of prolonged exposure to numerous stressors related to academic life. It has three dimensions: emotional exhaustion (e.g., feelings of tension and chronic fatigue), depersonalization (e.g., indifference, loss of interest, and view of study as meaningless), and low personal accomplishment (e.g., perception of decreased efficacy). Previous studies have found that burnout symptoms are associated with suicidal ideation. However, some studies have reported mixed findings regarding this association, after accounting for depressive symptoms.
