BRAIN MORPHOMETRIC EVALUATION OF IN PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system. Currently, more than 2.8 million people worldwide are living with MS. It is a chronic demyelinating disease, affecting the transmission of nerve impulses, and trigging the various symptoms of the disease. Considered a multifactorial disease, it presents factors such as genetic characteristics, viral infection, autoimmune inflammation and environmental factors. Early diagnosis carried out by clinical assessment and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilitates early treatment, avoiding the increase of white matter lesions, gray matter atrophy and worsening of symptoms.
