BISPHENOL S-INDUCED CARDIAC REMODELING IS ASSOCIATED WITH INCREASED ER STRESS

One of the main comorbidities of obesity is cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which are the leading cause of death worldwide. Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor with obesogenic effects associated with CVD. The main substitute for BPA is Bisphenol S (BPS). BPS has obesogenic effects, and recent studies pointed to a relation with CVD. However, the morphological changes and molecular pathways involved in BPS-induced cardiovascular damage has not been described, and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has been suggested as an important mediator of cardiac remodeling.
