Behavioral analysis of hypoxia-induced seizures in neonate Wistar and WAR rats

Two important causes of seizures in newborns are exposure to hypoxia (or hypoxia-ischemia) and the early onset of genetic epilepsies. It is also well established that hypoxia exposure requires robust adjustments in breathing activity. It is important to establish an accurate characterization of the seizure events, since the behavioral and breathing have been poorly characterized in animal models of hypoxic neonatal seizure.
