Resumo

Formaldehyde (FA) is a high emission pollutant whose inhalation has been linked to the development of inflammatory processes and oxidative stress, phenomena capable of causing structural and irreversible damage to the lung parenchyma. N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC), an N-acetyl derivative of the amino acid L-cysteine, has demonstrated through its antimucolytic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action mechanisms to be able to provide therapeutic efficacy against deleterious pulmonary effects mediated by inflammatory processes and oxidative stress in organisms exposed to xenobiotics
