Acute and long-term effects of Ayahuasca on brain connectivity: a resting-state fMRI study

Ayahuasca is a psychedelic brew of Amazonic origin and is traditionally used by indigenous communities for spiritual and medicinal purposes. In recent years, it has gained scientific interest with evidence of therapeutic potential for depression in clinical studies. Ayahuasca has also been reported to induce altered states of consciousness, including profound introspection and emotion regulation. However, the neural mechanisms underlying these effects are not fully understood.
