Resumo

Based on a case study on the well-being of black university students at a public university in Brazil, we analyzed 51 interviews and developed a content analysis that identified positive and negative feelings associated with their academic experiences. The results revealed the predominance of negative feelings and stressors, affected by prejudice and discrimination associated with the experiences of being a black student and remaining in the academic environment. This evidences an urgent political-institutional commitment of the universities with the establishment of student permanence policies capable of increasing positive feelings related to successful academic experiences.
