An increasing strategy to stimulate vorticity due to chaotic advection in microchannels has been involving the use of computational tools. However, acquiring a computational fluid dynamics software is still expensive and, moreover, in a microfluidic pattern study, the formation of vortices still represents a burden for many researchers. The purpose of this study was to develop a code that described the fluid flow along a microchannel; and also, to propose a new geometry of microdevice where occurred a vortex formation of fluid. The code was programmed by employing the Fortran 95 language, and the mesh was generated by the application of the Finite Volume Method. Likewise, the conservation equations were discretized by employing the hybrid scheme, and consequently, iterated until convergence through the SIMPLE (Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations) algorithm, following the co-located grid system. And finally, the microdevice showed qualitatively a recirculation at some zones with Reynolds number equal to 50, and a small pressure drop.
