Ketoprofen is a poorly water-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) widely used as an anti-inflammatory agent. The objective of this study was to carry out the preparation and solid-state characterization of ketoprofen solid forms[2]. A previously unreported crystalline structure of ketoprofen was generated through recrystallization by solvent evaporation. The solid was then characterized by a combination of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)[1]. These studies revealed the difference between ketoprofen raw material and the ketoprofen obtained after recrystallization. In conclusion, characterization was an important step to continue studying solid forms of ketoprofen in order to verify its solubility, stability and dissolution among all ketoprofen solid-state forms.
