Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the main causes of mortality in the world1. We developed a study in which the kinetics of extra pulmonary tuberculosis infection where observed using an animal model. In this study a more effective response in eliminate Mtb was observed in the liver when compared to other organs. Then, we compared data generated by the RNAseq technique of total liver and lung cells of mice infected with Mtb2. Comparing both signatures, we identify 2190 differentially expressed genes, of which compose pathways that regulates transcription of genes involved in interleukin signaling development of T cells, such as RUNX1 and FOXP3. These pathways are probably being modulated by epigenetic mechanisms3,4, since we could also observe activation of pathways as HDACs deacetylate histones. We concluded that the better response of liver is directed related to the activation of some pathways that characterize a less inflammatory and more homeostatic profile.
