Abstract

Solid dispersion microstructures are mainly developed with polymers and for encapsulation of certain molecules, enhancing its stability, solubility and, consequently, its absorption. Highly valued drug delivery systems are tested as a way to enhance the efficiency of liberation and absorption of drugs that have low water solubility. Bioavailability can be used as a parameter for enhancing absorption and effectiveness of many drugs. Hydrochlorothiazide is classified as low permeability and low solubility, indication to an ideal research subject for application of the microstructuration method increasing its solubility and bioavailability in physiological means. This research has the goal to develop microstructured systems with solid dispersions containing hydrochlorothiazide and a matrix made of polyethylene glycol. The systems went through: scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetry analysis, differential calorimetry scanning and absorption spectroscopy in the infrared wavelength, with microstrucutres with average size of 100µm, suggesting the creation of a stable and innovative drug enveloping system.
