This work aimed to evaluate the dissolution behavior of tablets containing high amount of spray dry extract (SDE) from leaves of Spondias mombin (CAJAZEIRA). The tablets were produced in a Styl’one tablet press under 250MPa compression pressure, at increasing proportions of SDE (40, 50 and 60%; w/w). The dissolution test was performed using paddle (USP Apparatus 2; 37.5ºC ± 0.5 and 75 rpm). The assay of markers (ellagic acid, chlorogenic acid and rutin) was performed by HPLC. The markers showed different release profiles due to their physicochemical properties in the dissolution medium (HCl 0.1M). Additionally, the dissolution curves were also affected by the SDE doses. Thus, tablets containing 50% (w/w) of SDE showed higher dissolution rate, releasing more than 70% of total content of ellagic acid. Regarding the other markers, the amount dissolved was up to 40% after 40 minutes.
