Abstract

In a study prior to our group, the aminoguanidine immunomodulator was observed in diabetic (DM1) and non-diabetic rats (FERREIRA et al., 2016). Our aim is to evaluate the effect of aminoguanidine and / or modify NOX2 modulation of peritoneal neutrophils and as implications on the redox system of Wistar rats in the experimental model of DM2; and also to evaluate the effects of both compounds on liver markers (AST and ALT) in Wistar rats. Our results show an increase of NOX 2 activity in the metformin-associated aminoguanidine treated group, where the luminol and lucigenin chemiluminescence method was used. The activity of the enzymes AST and ALT was evaluated by kinetic method. There was a reduction in AST and ALT activity in open groups with aminoguanidine and / or metformin, suggesting a hepatoprotective effect of these compounds.
