Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate how the standardization of packaging can contribute to increase productivity, improve the accuracy of inventory controls and make operations more efficient in the industrial context. The central idea is that the adoption of fixed formats and quantities per package reduces the need for manual counting of small-sized items, avoids rework in the conference and simplifies the logistics flow. The research will be conducted quantitatively, using a study of times and movements to compare the operational performance before and after standardization in a parts distribution center in Brazil. The intention is to verify possible gains in conference speed, greater accuracy in inventory records and increased productivity of both line operators and arbitrators. The theoretical foundation will be based on recent studies on inventory management, Just in Time, ABC classification, process standardization and application of Lean techniques, highlighting how the standardization of packaging can contribute to making the most of production capacity.
