Abstract

Psychological care for people with hearing and visual impairment in Brazil is a continuous demand, but still marked by gaps in professional practice. Among the main challenges, insufficient academic training and low use of accessible resources stand out, which can compromise the effectiveness of psychological follow-up. This study aims to identify the methods most used by psychologists in promoting accessibility and to understand the justifications that guide their choices. To this end, it adopts an exploratory approach, of a quantitative-qualitative nature, using an online questionnaire with 21 questions, aimed at psychologists registered with the CRP who work with this public. The research also seeks to reflect on the relevance of knowledge about the legal rights and cultural experience of the deaf and blind communities. It is intended, therefore, to contribute to the strengthening of initial training in Psychology, to foster specific specializations and to subsidize inclusive public policies, in order to ensure a more equitable, ethical and sensitive psychological care to the singularities of people with hearing and visual impairment.
