IDENTITY, REPRESENTATIVENESS, AND RESISTANCE OF BABASSU COCONUT BREAKERS IN THE COCAIS REGION: a case study from the perspective of intersectionality.

The article deals with the role of babassu coconut breakers in spaces of power in the municipality of Codó, using theoretical contributions such as black feminism. The study had the following problem: What approximations can be made between the theorizations of black feminism and the performance of coconut breakers in relation to the performance in spaces of power? Thus, the general objective of this article is to analyze the performance of babassu coconut breakers in the municipality of Codó in spaces of power in the light of intersectional black feminism. The study is justified by problematizing the difficulties of representativeness and the negative impacts resulting from the non-application and expansion of rights of formal access to public policies such as free access to babassu trees. The methodological procedures included literature review, documentary analysis of reports, legislation and government databases such as DivulgaCand. The results of the study point to a low representation, especially for formal public positions in the city council and city hall of this group, despite the active organization of the babassu coconut breakers movement. It is concluded that, although the babassu coconut breakers have a history of resistance and collective organization, their presence in spaces of political-institutional power is still marked by strong structural and symbolic limitations.
