Drugs for this purpose, although they contribute to the control of the disease, also have adverse effects on individuals who use them. The present study addresses the impacts of these medications on the oral cavity, considering the scarcity of information on stomatognathic alterations. GOAL: To investigate, based on the pharmaceutical package inserts, the short- and long-term harmful effects of these drugs in the oral cavity. JUSTIFICATION: This study gathers and examines the oral effects of anti-obesity medications described in official package inserts, a topic that has been little explored in the literature. The research contributes to filling gaps in stomatognathic repercussions, providing relevant information for clinical practice, prevention of complications and multidisciplinary guidance of patients using these drugs. METHODOLOGY: A qualitative, descriptive and documentary research was adopted, with a census approach to anti-obesity medications marketed worldwide, evaluating their side effects, prioritizing those approved by the main regulatory agencies. All the information collected was organized in a table, with the most relevant data for the investigation. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: It was observed that xerostomia is the most prevalent oral manifestation, in addition to sixteen other distinct adverse effects, capable of compromising essential functions, well-being and interfering with therapeutic results.CONCLUSION: Attention to these repercussions is essential, and prospective studies are needed to support preventive strategies and integrated oral health care.
