DIGITAL DISTANCE PROTECTION PERFORMANCE ON BASIC NETWORK TRANSMISSION LINES

Transmission line (LT) may be subjected to adverse operating conditions and in this circumstance it may be necessary to immediately disconnect it from the electrical power system (SEP) by the action of its protection. Statistically, a transmission line is the asset of the electrical system that suffers the most automatic shutdowns, about 68% of the origin of faults in the electrical system is found in transmission lines, as this equipment constitutes most of the infrastructure of the electrical sector. And for proper operational safety of a transmission line in the basic network, an effective protection system that reliably, quickly and selectively eliminates defects is desirable. Requirements found in the Intelligent Electronic Device (IED). Knowing that a basic protection system necessary for a LT comes down to the distance protection function 21. And the technical reference documentation that governs the operational safety requirements, in the national electrical system SIN, is materialized in the network procedures of the ONS submodule 2.11 that defines minimum requirements for the protection, disturbance recording and teleprotection systems. For this reason, this work aims to verify through bibliographic research the study of the performance of digital protection systems in the elimination of defects in LT, which meets ONS requirements.
