Abstract

This work aimed to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the generation of waste at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), in the period from 2020 to 2024, in order to understand the current scenario of institutional management and subsidize proposals for improvement in line with the National Waste Policy (PNRS). The methodology adopted was of mixed approach, with quantitative predominance, based on data provided by the Environmental Management Division of the university. The results revealed that the years 2023 and 2024 concentrated the largest volumes of waste, especially in sectors such as the Permanent Selection Coordination (COPESE), University Veterinary Hospital (HVU) and Management Sector (SG15). The research points out possible ways to structure a more efficient, participatory and environmentally responsible management.
