The main means of transmitting infections are hands, which have direct contact with keyboards. This is a descriptive and qualitative study carried out on keyboards in five sectors of a private higher education institution. The collection method was through a swab passed on the surface of the keyboard and seeded in Blood Agar, MacConkey and Mannitol. It was possible to confirm the presence of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus by gram staining and biochemical identification tests. Mainly in the computer room as it is an environment with a greater number of people using keyboards. It is necessary to alert professionals and students to raise awareness in order to improve hand hygiene in order to reduce the transmission of microorganisms and minimize the risk of infections.
