This study aims to develop the first version of an algorithm for offering complementary feeding to premature babies. This is a descriptive methodological study, which developed an algorithm based on the classical theory of psychometric tests and the instrument construction model. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in figures and tables. After collecting scientific evidence through an integrative review, based on guidelines from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, on the provision of complementary foods for preterm babies, a flowchart or algorithm was created. A first version of the educational technology, algorithm, was developed, with the main recommendations that enable the timely and healthy provision of complementary food to premature babies
