Brucellosis and it´s impact on cattle farming

Brucellosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella, which mainly affects domestic animals and can also be transmitted to humans. Spread can occur between animals through direct contact with infected body fluids, such as blood, milk, urine and aborted tissues, as well as through pastures, food troughs and water contaminated by secretions, fetal membranes, aborted fetuses or newborn calves affected by the disease. Preventing brucellosis in domestic animals involves biosecurity measures, such as reproduction control, regular tests to detect the disease and the disposal of infected animals.
