The II International Congress of Amazonian Functional Foods – CIAFA: Health, Innovation, and Bioeconomy aims to promote a high-level international scientific forum dedicated to the integration among researchers, professionals, students, the productive sector, public managers, and traditional communities, stimulating the exchange of scientific, technological, and innovative knowledge related to functional foods derived from Amazonian biodiversity.
The congress seeks to strengthen excellent scientific research and technological innovation in the field of Food Science and Technology, encouraging the connection between basic, applied, and translational science, as well as the formation of national and international collaborative networks. In this context, the event contributes to the strengthening of the Amazonian bioeconomy by promoting value addition to socio-biodiversity production chains, the development of sustainable products and processes, and the transfer of technologies based on scientific evidence.
Additionally, CIAFA promotes qualified debates on health, nutrition, food and nutritional security, innovation in functional foods, the sustainable use of biodiversity, and contemporary challenges associated with climate change, contributing to the training of qualified human resources and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
Held in the Amazon, the territory of origin of the investigated raw materials and socio-biodiverse systems, the congress contributes to the decentralization of scientific production, the strengthening of research in the Northern Region, and the consolidation of the Amazon as a national and international strategic reference in science, technology, and innovation regarding functional foods.
