Guidelines for preparing an abstract
Abstracts should be written in English, however, we accept texts in Portuguese and Spanish.
Simultaneous translation will be available during the event in three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.
A concise and factual abstract of no more than 400 words is required (the title and the authors’ information - names and affiliated institutions - are not included in the 400 words).
It should report concisely the main findings of the research. To this end, the abstract is structured in six parts:
-
CONTEXT OR PROBLEM to present the background and issues;
-
OBJECTIVE OR RESEARCH QUESTION where the main hypothesis is presented;
-
METHODS to provide an overview of the materials and methods used;
-
RESULTS to present the main findings using quantitative facts where possible;
-
CONCLUSIONS to present the main interpretation of the results;
-
IMPLICATIONS OR SIGNIFICANCE to emphasise the innovative aspects of the results and their relevance to the selected thematic line of the submission. If applicable, indicate the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG - 2030 Agenda) related to the topic of the abstract.
The abstract is a stand alone document. For this reason, references are not allowed. Non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mention in the text.
Note: Oral presentations will be selected by the scientific committee, and the authors will be consulted to confirm whether they accept them or not.
