Resumo

The use of biomass as a biofuel source has increased in recent decades as a sustainable alternative to petroleum-derived products. In this study the biomass conversion process via gasification in a fluidized bed reactor was investigated. ANSYS FLUENT 2022 R2 was used to simulate a gasifier, considering the presence of a gas phase and a particulate phase (composed of biomass and sand), utilizing the Eulerian approach and Granular Kinetic Theory. The computational model was constructed using the kinetics described in the work of Nunn et al. (1985) through the creation of a UDF. The influence of a temperature of 973 K on the compositional concentrations of the synthesis gases CO and H2 and on the cracking of tar C6H6O was analyzed.
