Resumo

The hydrodynamic effects and the curvature of the flame front play an important role as far as the stretching of the flame area is concerned. As such, the modification of the flame area impacts the reaction rate when the Damkholer hypothesis is considered to close the combustion formulation in numerical modelling. Considering the divergence of the velocity field, we investigate how the reaction rate stretching factor is related to the rate of change of volume of an element of fluid during motion.
