CFD SIMULATION OF HOT EMISSION PLUME AND CAPTURE HOOD

Dedusting systems in steelmaking plants contribute to the safety of operators and environmental compliance. However, it is notedly difficult to evaluate the efficiency of emission capturing by an exhaust hood before the installation in the real process. In the present study, a theoretical hot process with atmospheric emission were modelled in a CFD simulation to investigate the efficiency of a canopy hood, in which two turbulence models were used to evaluate their influence in the capture efficiency calculation.
