Resumo

The WHO estimates that 219 million of new malaria cases occurred around worldwide in 2017, with an estimated 435,000 deaths1 making malaria among the top three infectious diseases.2 Despite the fact that treatments with quinine and its many derivatives are of primary importance in the control of malaria,3 resistance and tolerance associated with antimalarial drugs currently available have generated an intense search for new chemical entities with new modes of action.
Natural marinoquinolines (MQs) were isolated from Ohtaekwangia kribbensis and Rapidhithrix thailandica and are known to have antimalarial activity. In a previous study,4 we synthesized several unnatural MQ derivatives and discovered a lead compound named MQ-030. In this work, we showed new series of MQ and their results against P. falciparum 3D7 strain.
