Triple-negative breast cancer is especially aggressive and harder to treat than hormone-receptor-positive subtypes. Polyoxovanadates (POVs) are a promising class of discrete polyoxidoanions known for their antitumor properties and their ability to inhibit multidrug resistance [2]. In this work, the most studied POV in their biological activities, [V10O28]6– (V10), the organically functionalized [V6O13{(OCH2)3CCH2CH3}2]2- (V6) and the mixed valence [V15O36Cl]6– (V15) were assessed in their anti-breast cancer activity towards MCF-7 (luminal) and MDA-MB-231 (triple negative) human breast cancer cells. The POVs have demonstrated promising anticancer effects against breast cancer cells, with mechanisms varying between polyoxoanions with distinct structural features, warranting further exploration for therapeutic use.
