Abstract

Five lanthanide complexes with 2-bromo-3-thiophenecarboxylate (3tcaBr) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) were synthesized through a one-pot method. All compounds presented the general formula [Ln₂(3tcaBr)₄(phen)₂(NO₃)₂] (Ln = Sm³⁺ (1), Eu³⁺ (2), Gd³⁺ (3), Tb³⁺ (4), and Dy³⁺ (5)). Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All complexes were also characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, UV-visible absorption spectrosocpy, and emission spectroscopy. The emission spectra presented intense 4f-4f lanthanide-nased transitions, highlighting the role of 3tcaBr as an antenna ligand.
