Abstract

The abstract presents some ideas about a work in progress, but with promising results. This study aims to develop a prototype platform for studying the phosphorylation mechanisms of response-regulating proteins. Investigating mechanisms of this nature may be beneficial for targeted drug design.
Therefore, mixed monolayers of fixK DNA and 6-mercaptohexanol were prepared on a gold surface and the hybridization of the complementary DNA strands was monitored using surface plasmon resonance and electrochemical techniques. A low DNA density was observed on the surface, suggesting that the platform is suitable for subsequent protein immobilization, which is the following step of the study.
