Abstract

Monomeric and dimeric iron phthalocyanines are mainly used as catalysts in oxidation and reduction reactions [1,2]. substituted µ-nitrido diiron phthalocyanines emerged as powerful oxidation catalysts. These complexes have showed significant catalytic properties for oxidation of methane [3], benzene [4], alkyl aromatics [5], and defluorination of poly- and perfluorinated aromatic compounds [6].

Heteroleptic heterobimetallic μ-nitrido porphyrinoids MnPor-N-FePc and MnPc-N-FePor were prepared by using Mn-N3 porphyrinoid with corresponding iron porphyrinoid derivative and characterized by FT-IR, HRMS, MALDI-MS, UV–vis, EPR and Raman spectroscopic techniques. These two novel complexes were tested in oxidation of 2,3,5-trimethylphenol to 2,3,5-trimethyl-1,4-benzoquinone and several benzyl alcohols to benzaldehyde and benzoic acid. The catalytic activities of these heteroleptic heterometallic µ-nitrido porphyrin-phthalocyanine complexes in oxidation will be discussed.
